Canton, NY – Alyssa Stanley scored her first collegiate goal but the SUNY Canton women's soccer team fell in double overtime as Shannon Harrison scored the game-winner in the 105th minute to earn visiting SUNY Poly a 2-1 win on Thursday.

SUNY Poly (8-1-1) got on the board first in the 26th minute when Meral Evke played a beautiful through ball to Ashley O'Connor on the left side. Allison Wakefield came charging out for the Roos as O'Connor beat her into the right corner of the net. Brittany Waterbury was also credited with an assist on the play.

The Roos (5-7-0) found the equalizer in the 39th minute. Victoria Bean took a free kick on the right side near the end line as the ball found Madison Rowe in the box. Her initial shot was saved by Angela Bartlett but Stanley put home the rebound for her first collegiate goal.

SUNY Canton held a 6-2 shots advantage and 3-1 shots on goal edge in the opening half as the teams played to a 1-1 tie at intermission.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the second half as SUNY Poly held advantages in shots 10-8 shots and 4-2 shots on goal edge.

Nakeya Stedman had a great opportunity with 35 seconds remaining in the opening overtime but her shot went just wide of the left post as the teams went to a second extra session. That set up the heroics for Harrison 4:26 into the second overtime.

Wakefield made five saves for the Roos, while Bartlett turned aside five shots for Poly.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Sunday when it visits Albany College of Pharmacy at 1 p.m.
