Newport News, VA – With the fall championship season completed and winter sports in full swing SUNY Canton sits in third place in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Director's Cup standings.

SUNY Canton has accumulated 367 points through the fall championship season and trails only No. 2 West Virginia University Tech (383.5) and SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry (385.5). Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY) captured 2014 USCAA National Championship medalist honors with a final round of 2-under par 70 at the Penn State Blue Course on October 14, 2014. With his first place finish out of 130 golfers SUNY Canton notched a fifth place finish out of the 22 team field.

The women's volleyball team hosted the USCAA National Championships for the third consecutive year and recorded their best finish in program history placing third overall out of the 10 teams invited to the tournament. The Roos went 5-1 in the championships dropping only three sets out of the 18 they played in the tournament. For their tremendous performances during the tournament Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, ON) and Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) were named to the All-Tournament Team. After falling 3-1 to Rochester College in the semifinals, SUNY Canton bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Alfred State College in the third place match.

The men's and women's soccer teams also had productive fall seasons where they put on impressive performances against USCAA competition. Nick Escalante (Whittier, CA) tied an NCAA-wide best for goals in a single game as he found the back of the net five times in the Roos 5-0 victory against Berkeley College. The Roos finished the season 9-8-1 including a perfect 4-0 mark against USCAA competition. Meanwhile, the women's soccer team opened the season with back-to-back wins against Paul Smith's College (6-1) and Vermont Technical College (4-0).

The cross country teams were also impressive during their fall seasons as the women recorded a ninth place finish out of the 18 team field at the USCAA National Championships, while the men raced to a 10th place showing out of 21 teams. Austin Johnston (Auburn, NY), Tom Lauzon (Bombay, NY), Samantha Smith (Mooers Forks, NY) and Keara Byrne (Queensbury, NY) all finished in the top 50 individually.

With the women's basketball team on a four game winning streak and the men's basketball team already sporting a seven game win streak this season the Roos will look to continue their climb to the top of the USCAA Director's Cup standings in 2015.
