Alfred, NY – Demba Ba (Cambria Heights, NY) scored his first goal in a SUNY Canton uniform but the men's soccer team fell 6-1 on the road at Alfred State on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers (3-4) opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Albert Senyah Breezy netted his second of the season off a throw in beating Roo keeper Connor Campbell (Glasgow, Scotland). Brandon Holley doubled the Alfred State lead less than two minutes later off a cross from Markus Ernest. Holley cashed in for the fifth time on the season and his second of the game in the 29th minute.

Ba got the Roos (0-8-1) on the board 80 seconds before halftime when he headed home a cross from Marc Ramirez (La Puente, CA) from the far corner. The Pioneers answered right back with just 40 ticks left until halftime on Jake Vattimo's first goal of the season. Alfred State led 4-1 at intermission.

The Pioneers added a pair of second half tallies as Senyah Breezy beat Campbell for the second time in the 54th minute and Holley completed the hat trick in the 67th minute.

Ba, Austin Brault (Peru, NY) and Mouhamadou Cisse (Sacre, Coeur, Dakar, Senegal) all registered two shots on goal apiece for Canton. Campbell made three saves for the Roos, while Jacob Bartz and Christopher Johannes turned aside three shots each for Alfred State.

The men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday when it hosts Cazenovia College at 6:30 p.m.
