RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. -- The SUNY Canton men’s basketball team was clipped by Vermont Technical College 66-62 Sunday afternoon.
The Roos (11-7) shot 42 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free throw line converting 8 of 10 chances from the stripe.
Freshman guard Tyler Ellison (New York, N.Y.) reached double figures in scoring for the third straight game netting a team-high 13 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals for SUNY Canton.
Freshman guard Sean Perrin (Prescott, Ontario) added eight points for the Roos.
Junior forward Irving Cato (New York, N.Y.) tossed in seven points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out four assists.
Junior guard Ryan Lamica (Constable, N.Y.) contributed seven points, five rebounds and five assists and freshman forward Timothy Taylor (New York, N.Y.) also had seven points.
The Green Knights (12-9) were paced by Alexy Tyrell who scored a game-high 23 points on four 3-pointers.
Kevin Carr added 14 points and nine assists.
SUNY Canton returns to Vermont on Sunday, Feb. 5 when they play at the College of St. Joseph starting at 3 p.m.
