CANTON – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team played to a 2-2 double overtime tie against visiting Bard College on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos (0-1-1) opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Edward Malinoski, Jr. (Evans Mills, NY) netted his first goal of the season. Maurizio Paniconi (Carolina, Puerto Rico) played the ball up the right side to Kyle Smith (Evans Mills, NY). Smith drove a cross into the box that was poked away by Raptor keeper Taylor Bond but Malinoski was in the right spot burying a shot into the left side of net.

With 15 minutes to play in the opening half SUNY Canton had a terrific buildup once again as Smith found Malinoski on the left side and he fed a ball into the box but Erdous Lebron's (San Juan, Puerto Rico) shot missed just wide.

Bard (1-0-1) knotted the game at one apiece seconds later as David Mamukelashvili took a free kick from just inside midfield and found Antonio Scanni at the right post who chested a shot past Roo keeper Austin Lamay (Malone, NY).

SUNY Canton regained its lead six minutes later when Josh Geller (Monroe, NY) crossed a ball into the box and Nick Magliano (Farmingville, NY) picked up the loose ball. He back tapped a pass to Angelo Vecchio (Baldwinsville, NY) who drilled a shot into the left corner from 16 yards out past a diving Bond for the 2-1 lead.

With just less than two minutes to play in the opening half the Roos turned the ball over in the defensive third as Lucas Bourgine bumped a defender knocking him off the ball and beat Lamay in a 1-v-1 situation. The teams headed to the locker room tied at two apiece.

In the 77th minute Mouhamadou Cisse (Sacre Coeur, Dakar, Senegal) ripped a downward bending ball from 40 yards out that nearly broke the tie and struck off the top of the crossbar.

The teams played a pair of 10 minute overtimes but neither team was able to notch the go-ahead strike as the game ended in a double overtime draw. Lamay made five saves for the Roos, while Bond turned aside four shots for the Raptors.
