CANTON – The men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2013 season at home as they hosted the Kangaroo Invitational Saturday on the beautiful campus of SUNY Canton. The men sprinted to a third place finish, while the women recorded a fourth place showing.
Megan Mydosh (Warwick, NY) paced the women as she finished fourth overall in a time of 21:13 over the 5-kilometer course. Keara Byrne (Queensbury, NY) crossed the line 16th overall in 23:07, while Joelle Percy Black River, NY) clocked a 23:43 in her first collegiate race. Jess Nagy (Budd Lake, NJ) came home in 36th place and Michelle Morse (Stillwater, NY) rounded out the top five for the Lady Roos in 39th.
The women finished fourth out of the five-team field coming up less than 20 points out of second place in a very tight race. The Roos finished with 92 points on the day and were right on the heels of second place Castleton State (75) and third place Paul Smith's College (78). Clarkson University won the team title with 25 points.
