CANTON -- Corey Frizell (Orleans, Ontario) and Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) each scored two goals as the SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team had a succesful debut on their home ice with a convincing 8-0 win over Lebanon Valley College.
The Roos led 1-0 after the first period before a packed crowd that witnessed the first ever home game played at SUNY Canton.
The ice arena and the new athletic facility opened their doors this past summer.
The Roos tacked on four goals in the second and three more in the third in a high-shooting affair that saw both teams combine for 96 shots as Canton held a 56-40 advantage.
Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.), Dave Schneider (Indianpolis, Ind.), John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.), and Eric Richard (St-Hubert, Quebec) also scored and freshman Morgan Barr (Almonte, Ontario) stopped all 40 shots he faced for his first career shutout.
The Roos and Dutchman face off again on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. following the grand opening ceremony of Roos House. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony starting at 12 noon.
