SUNY Canton Cross Country teams compete at CCOC as men finish fifth

Geneva, NY – Paul Ford and Madeline Hewitt once again led the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams as the men finished in fifth place out of 12 teams at the Cross Country Only Championships in Geneva on Saturday.

Ford covered the 8-kilometer course in 30:44 to finish in 28th place just ahead of teammate Deven Grant (30:52 - 29). Luke Ducharme had a strong showing finishing in 45th place (32:38). Meanwhile, Jonathan Dunham (33:21 – 52) and Anthony Fazio (34:53 – 69) rounded out the men's top five runners.

The Roos finished with a team score of 153, while Clarkson University took home the team title with 16 points led by individual race winner AJ Beers (27:15).

Following Hewitt's 26th place performance, Kim McCarthy had a solid outing recording a 61st place showing covering the 6-kilometer course in 30:36. Kaitlyn Trusty (31:20 – 74), Samantha Smith (31:46 – 79) and Allison Ford (32:17 – 82) rounded out the top five.

The Roos finished in 10th place out of 11 teams with 240 points. Clarkson won the team title with a perfect 15 points paced by first place Sarah Duclos (24:39).
