Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton baseball team opened its weekend Empire 8 series with St. John Fisher College dropping a pair of contests, 3-2 (7 innings) and 10-0 (9 innings), on Saturday.

With the wins the Cardinals improve to 19-6 overall and remain perfect at 7-0 in Empire 8 play. The Roos fall to 9-17 and 3-8.

Game 1 – Box Score

The Cardinals started the scoring with one run each in the first and third innings as Scott Eisenmenger drove in both runs. SUNY Canton got one run back in the fifth when Brandon Welch (Constable, NY) drove home Jeremy Baez (Bronx, NY) on a fielder's choice sacrifice fly.

Fisher added an important insurance run in the top of the seventh when Jack Trotman doubled down the right field line to plate Joe Simmons. Baez homered to left with one out in the bottom of the inning to get the Roos the tying run to the plate.
