Aurora, NY – Ithaca College used three impressive innings to secure a 16-0 victory and earn a sweep of the SUNY Canton baseball team on Monday in a game played at Wells College.
Wilson Matos (Brooklyn, NY) led the Roos (7-15, 3-6 Empire 8) with two hits and reached base three times. Nicolas Demarais (Plattsburgh, NY), Derrick Machado (Brooklyn, NY) and Christian Nazario-Cruz (Naguabo, Puerto Rico) also recorded hits for SUNY Canton.
The Bombers (12-9, 5-1 E8) scored five runs in the third inning, two in the fourth, eight in the fifth and one in the eighth en route to the convincing victory.
Ten different players recorded hits for Ithaca as Sam Little led the way offensively with a home run and 4 RBI. Four other players finished with 2 RBI apiece for the Bombers.
Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) took the loss on the mound for the Roos scattering seven hits and 11 earned runs over four and one-third innings. Tom Brusca (Middletown, NY), Matt Hall (Palmyra, NY) and Chris Lee (Brooklyn, NY) all pitched in relief for the Roos.
The baseball team is back in action for a single nine inning game on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
