Canton, NY – Seth Douglas (Reedsburg, WI) drove in a game-high four runs but the SUNY Canton baseball team dropped a 24-6 decision to visiting St. John Fisher College to complete a weekend Empire 8 Conference series on Sunday.

The Cardinals, who are receiving votes in the Top 25 nationally, improve to 20-6 and 8-0 in conference play, while the Roos fall to 9-18 and 3-9.

Each team scored one run in the opening inning as Douglas doubled to left center to score Jeremy Baez (Bronx, NY) who led off with a triple to right center.

The Fisher bats exploded for 11 runs in the second third and fourth innings to open up a commanding 12-1 advantage. The Roos responded with five runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Gerald Abillar (Orangeburg, NY) plated Trevor Keleher (Potsdam, NY) on an RBI single down the left field line and Derrek DuPont (Catskill, NY) drove home Brandon Welch (Constable, NY) on a fielder's choice. Douglas drove the ball over the left center field wall for a three run homer in the sixth to score Nicolas Demarais (Plattsburgh, NY) and Kirkland Festa (Wellington, FL).

The Cardinals added four runs in the sixth, seven in the eighth and one run in the ninth to earn the 24-6 victory.

Stephen Lewis improved to 4-0 with the win on the mound for the Cardinals, while Robbie Osterer (Ottawa, ON) moved to 1-2 on the season giving up eight runs on nine hits over three innings. He struck out two and walked five.

The baseball team is back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Clarkson University in its Alumni Game at 4 p.m.
