Leicester, MA – The SUNY Canton men's hockey team scored four unanswered goals with three coming in the third period en route to a 5-2 win over host Becker College. The win improves the Roos to 2-9-1, while the loss drops the Hawks to 1-8-2.

SUNY Canton got on the board first at the 2:37 mark of the first period when Nick Vasilopoulos (Montreal, QC) tallied his first career goal off passes from Lee Melde (Proctor, MN) and Joe Casale (Niagara Falls, NY). Just over two minutes later Becker responded when Antonio Baccari found the back of the net to make it 1-1 heading into first intermission.

The Hawks took their first lead of the game at the 12:47 mark of the second period on a Conner Allison tally. Four minutes later Casale earned his second point of the night as this time he lit the lamp on the power play. Austin Root (Manhattan Beach, CA) and Vance Bridgman (North Pole, AK) earned helpers on the play. The teams were deadlocked at 2-2 after two periods.

The Roos controlled the third period putting 18 shots on goal in 20 minutes. Zach Paisley (Yonkers, NY) recorded the first goal of his young career at the 1:33 mark with Dave Schneider (Indianapolis, IN) and J.R. Lafferty (Williamstown, NJ) assisting on the power play tally. Two minutes later SUNY Canton added an important insurance marker as Lafferty beat the goaltender for the first time this season. Paisley and Cory Giczewski (Fountain Valley, CA) assisted the goal. With 2:19 remaining Schneider scored his third goal of the season off passes from Kristian Leach (Indianapolis, IN) and Justin Brooks (Aurora, ONT) for the 5-2 final.

Christopher Marsillo (Lincroft, NJ) had a huge game between the pipes for the Roos stopping 44 of the 46 shots he faced on the evening. Gregg Hussey made 33 saves for the Hawks. Eleven different players registered points on the evening for SUNY Canton. The Roo power play unit was impressive going 2-for-5, while Becker was 0-for-5 with the skater advantage.
