Alfred, NY – Host Alfred State outscored visiting SUNY Canton by 15 points in the second quarter to earn a 64-46 win v. the women's basketball team on Sunday.
The Pioneers (9-12) jumped out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 35-13 at intermission. The Roos (11-12) outscored Alfred State 33-29 in the second half but were unable to complete the comeback.
Antanasia Chambers led Canton with 11 points, seven rebounds and five steals, while Tatiana Laroche added seven points, seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Taylor Saltus chipped in seven points and Billie Rivenburgh and Jasmine Dixon added six points apiece.
Catherine Bialecki led all scorers with 20 points and added 11 rebounds, while Janae Gibson also recorded a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kelsey Shaulis posted 13 points for the Pioneers.
The women's basketball team is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Villa Maria
