Junior Conor Healey scored early in the third quarter for the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team, ranked No. 4 in the latest USILA/Nike poll, knotting the game at 2-2 but Rensselaer scored the next five consecutive goals and captured a 10-4 win over the Saints Friday afternoon in a Liberty League Tournament semifinal game on North Country Field at Hall-Leet Stadium in Canton.

With the win, RPI (13-3), ranked #15 in the USILA/Nike poll, advances to play RIT, who won a 21-9 victory over Union, Sunday in Rochester.

The Engineers scored the first two goals of the game within a minute of each other late in the first quarter.

Connor Brimley cut the lead in half with the first goal of the game for the Saints (15-2) and the only goal for either team in the second quarter as the defensive battle went to the halftime intermission with the Engineers holding a slim 2-1 lead.

In the third quarter, Healey tied the game working from behind the net and scoring on a diving shot into the lower corner of the net.

Four minutes later, RPI took the lead for good with its string of five straight goals with the fifth coming early in the fourth quarter and giving the Engineers a 7-2 lead.

The teams traded goals as Jeremy Vautour scored for the Saints at the 11:18 mark but RPI won the face off and raced in scoring just 10 seconds later.

St. Lawrence scored again with an Andrew Jarrett unassisted goal with 8:36 left but the Engineers scored twice in the closing minutes for the final margin of victory.

St. Lawrence fired 49 shots and limited RPI to 22 in the game but only half of the Saint shots (25) were on goal. The Saints won 10 of the 17 face offs and forced 18 RPI turnovers while committing just seven.

The Saints must now wait until Sunday night to find out if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The announcement of the selection is scheduled for 9 pm Eastern time Sunday.
