Strong first half leads Fisher past Roos women’s basketball

Randolph Center, VT – Antanasia Chambers led the Roos with 11 points but Fisher College jumped out to a double-digit halftime lead on its way to an 81-47 victory in the opener for both teams on Tuesday at the Vermot Tech Tournament.

Fisher (8-6) jumped out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter as they closed the stanza on a 10-3 run. The Falcons controlled play in the second quarter outscoring the Roos, 19-2 to take a 38-14 lead into intermission.

Madison Carroll led Canton with 17 points, while Antanasia Chambers paced the Roos (4-8) with six points. Fisher shot 46 percent from three-point range in the first half and turned 13 Canton turnovers into 20 points.

The Falcons continued to dictate play in the second half cruising to the 81-47 victory. Madison Carroll led Fisher with 26 points, while Choon-Hee Chae and Murphy Carroll posted 16 points apiece.

Chambers led Canton with 11 points, while Billie Rivenburgh and Tatiana Laroche totaled eight points apiece. Allison Fink chipped in six points off the bench in just nine minutes of action.

The women's basketball team is back in action on Wednesday when it takes on host Vermont Tech at 1 p.m.
