Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team closed the final 7:07 of the contest on a 19-6 run to earn a 57-54 victory against visiting Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday afternoon at the Roos House.

Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) led the Roos with 15 points and added four steals and three assists. Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) added 14 points and nine rebounds on 5-for-10 shooting. Brianna SAyer (Hermon, NY) added nine points and five rebounds. Logan Tallman (Heveulton, NY) chipped in eight points and Caseylynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) posted seven points and nine boards.

ACPHS (11-7) led by as many as 10 in the opening half and took a 29-20 lead into intermission.

The Roos (6-12) cut the Panthers deficit to two at 37-35 but used an 8-0 run to extend it back to 43-35 with 10:14 remaining. Taylor Sullivan led Albany Pharmacy with 11 points, while Megan Serley and Dannie Griffin added 10 points each.

SUNY Canton opened up a three-point lead with 40 seconds remaining after a Terrance lay-up. Rochelle Whitton hit both free throws with 36 seconds to get within one. After a timeout Head Coach Bruce Tallon drew up a play and the Roos came up big as Terrance converted her second consecutive bucket in the paint with six seconds left.

Whitton looked to get off a three-pointer to tie it just before the buzzer but Sayer came up with a big block as time expired. The Roos controlled points off turnovers (23-14) and second chance points (15-6), while the Panthers had the upper hand in points in the paint (36-24) and bench points (13-8).

The women's basketball team will return to the hardwood on Wednesday when it hosts Vermont Technical College at 5:00 p.m. in the Roos House.
