Sophomore Masha Kolesnikova recorded 16 kills and had a .323 attack percentage to lead the St. Lawrence University Volleyball team to a convincing 3-1 victory over SUNY Potsdam in a non-league match up Wednesday night in Burkman Gymnasium in Canton.

St. Lawrence (12-11) won the opening set 25-18 before Potsdam (4-13) rallied to win the second set 25-23 to even the match. The Saints pulled away in the third set with a 25-15 win and finished off the match with a 25-17 victory in the final set. The victory was the seventh consecutive win over Potsdam.

"Our offense was very efficient and our defense created a lot of good offense for us tonight," said Head Coach Shelly Roiger. "There's no question that this team is in need of some rest and the break will be critical for us as we head into a very difficult three weeks to close out the regular season."

Kolesnikova not only had 16 kills but also added 10 digs on the defensive side. Lexi Brown and Grace Kelly each chipped in 11 kills with Brown hitting at a .304 percentage and Kelly attacking at .450 for the Saints. Katie Kull handed out 46 assists and added nine digs , Katie Rowell had a team-best three aces and Mariah Dignan led the defensive effort with 14 digs. Cristina Deschaine had six kills and six blocks and Kelly had four blocks.

The Saints are off until October 15 when they travel to Plattsburgh for a 6 pm match before heading to Massachusetts for three matches at the MIT Invitational against MIT, New Paltz and Western New England.
