Senior defender Jack Roberts picked up seven ground balls and caused three turnovers as the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team remained undefeated with a convincing 14-6 victory over Western New England University Saturday afternoon in rainy conditions at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida.

Roberts and the Saints (5-0) defense forced 23 turnovers and recorded 19 caused turnovers held Western New England (3-2) to just six goals. The Bears entered the contest averaging more than 12 goals per game.

Sam Sweeney led the Saints with four caused turnovers while Caleb Kane and Malcolm Lynch joined Roberts with three caused turnovers each. Kane, Steele White and Alec Dietsch combined for 11 ground balls for St. Lawrence and goalie Ryan Fisher made six saves to improve his record to 5-0.

Western New England opened the scoring as the teams traded goals in the first several minutes of the contest. Jeremy Vautour and Conor Healey scored for the Saints early but with the score tied at 2-2, St. Lawrence scored the next five consecutive goals to take control of the game.

Healey added two goals in the five-goal run as Jordan Dow, Charlie Duprey and Connor Brimley each added goals as the Saints took a 7-2 lead with 3:48 left in the second quarter.

Western New England added the final two goals of the half to close the gap to 7-4 at the intermission.

Duprey, Healey, Andrew Jarrett, Dow and Brimley each scored goals to start the second half as St. Lawrence jumped ahead 12-4 in the first 9:20 of the third quarter.

A man-up goal for the Bears stopped the scoring run with one second remaining in the third quarter but the Saints outscored the Bears 2-1 in the final quarter to seal the win.

In the fourth quarter, Vautour stole a clearing pass from behind the cage and scored into the open goal and Dietsch scored with a hard shot that deflected off the goalie's mask and into the net.

Healey finished with a team-leading eight points on four goals and four assists while Vautour, Duprey, Dow and Brimley added two goals each. Austin Nadeau also had a pair of points with two assists.

The Saints continue the Florida trip with a game Tuesday against Salve Regina at 1 pm at the University of Tampa stadium.
