Stine, Linder help Saints women's track team to opening win

Carly Stine and Kristin Linder won two events each as St. Lawrence University's women's indoor track team opened its season with a 181-74 win over the University of Ottawa in the Saint Holiday Relays at the Newell Field House on Saturday.

Stine won the 400 in 1:01.72 and took the long jump with a 4.69 meter jump while Linder won the weight throw with a 13.78 meter mark and the shot put with a 11.40 meter throw. Stine led a one-two-three sweep in both of her wins as Marisa Turner was second and Katherine Vincelette third in the 400 and Tori Bean second and Allison Scarf was third in the long jump. Bean made her return to action after missing all last season due to injury.

Other Saint winners included Lisa Grohn, who won the mile in 5:19.30 with Kelsey Leder fourth and Kate Snedden fifth, and Catherine Rowell, who won the triple jump with a 10.02 meter series. Turner won the high jump with a 1.60 meter effort while Kylie Morris was second and Stine finished fourth. Stine and Turner also ran on the second place 4x400 relay with Vincelette and Hannah Kinsey which ran 4:12.32. The Distance Medley Relay won in 13:15.34 with Grohn, Hameline, Toria Koutras and Leder.

The Saints also finished second in the 4x200 relay with a team of Jacqui Ebeling, Chinelo Asanya, Ketura Mason and Jaleigh Pier running 1:51.83.

Cassia Hameline was third and Lydia Vogt fourth in the 800 meters while Hannah Kinsey was fifth and Ketura Mason finished sixth in the 60.

The Saints will return to action after exams and the holidays at Ottawa on Jan. 11.
