Cara Waterson scored 13 points and Lauren Quattrocchi netted 10 points and handed out seven assists as the St. Lawrence University Women's Basketball team let a 10-point fourth quarter lead nearly slip away as the Saints held on for a 52-51 victory Friday night in a Liberty League matchup at the East Campus Gym at RPI in Troy.

Quattrocchi scored her first field goal of the game in the closing seconds of the first half to give St. Lawrence (12-3 overall, 5-1 Liberty League) a 23-21 lead heading into the halftime intermission.

In the third quarter, the Saints came out strong and jumped out to a 15-point advantage at 38-23 late in the quarter but RPI (4-10, 1-5) battled back for a 7-2 run to end the quarter cutting the lead to 40-30.

In the final quarter, the Saints maintained the double-digit lead for the first five minutes of the quarter but the Engineers scored the next six points to trim the lead and with less than a minute to play scored again to make it a three-point advantage at 52-49 but RPI missed a 3-pointer and a layup before scoring a basket at the buzzer for the final margin of victory.

Waterson had just two points in the first half and Quattrocchi had four but both led the way in the second half of action. In the first half, Jenny Scudder and Shayna Davner combined for 10 points off the bench to pace the Saints. Caroline Dalton had four points and a team-leading 10 rebounds and Ellie Gonyeau scored nine for St. Lawrence.

The Saints continue the four-game road streak with a game at Union College at 2 pm Saturday before a trip to Bard and Vassar next weekend.
