(Utica, NY) The SUNY Canton baseball team was outstanding both offensively and defensively as they secured a decisive 15-4 win over Utica College. The bats were swinging away as the Roos pounded out 17 hits in the afternoon, scoring 15 runs. Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, NY) continued his offensive streak at the plate, getting on base each time he was at bat, scoring four runs with two runs batted in.
Gerardo Torres (Stafford, Va.) scored three runs off of three hits with one RBI and Will McIntyre (Ottawa, Ontario), went four for six at the plate, scoring three runs and with two RBIs. Rounding out the scorebooks were Tom Darling (Oswego, NY), Jared Marckese (Lecanton, FLa.), Steve Cano (Miami, Fla.) and Mike Zelyez (Brasher Falls, NY) who all made it around the diamond in the effort.
Controlling the mound for the Roos was Senior Josh Soffer (Ottawa, Ontario) who pitched eight innings in the outing and was credited with the win. Soffer struck out 10, allowing only nine hits in the game. Hunneyman was brought in to close the game, pitching one inning and striking out two batters.
