However, with MacDonald posting a clean period, the Saints were able to capitalize and take a 1-0 lead at 3:49. Emard scored her 10th of the year, collecting a loose puck in front of Colgate goalie Kimberly Sass and firing a wrist shot into the net. Smith and Sabatine assisted on what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

The Saints outshot Colgate 22-5, and Smith did the damage with three straight goals. She then scored power play goals at 13:25 and 14:41 to give her team a 4-0 lead. Senior Alley Bero assisted on both goals, while Sabatine and classmate Brooke Fernandez also earned helpers in the second.

First-year student Jacqueline Wand then capped the game's scoring at 6-0 with her second goal of the second, scoring on a rebound at 19:41. Junior Jamie Goldsmith and senior assistant captain Josee Belanger assisted on the final goal.
