The St. Lawrence University women's swimming and diving team defeated the RIT 136-96 behind eight individual first place finishes in Rochester on Saturday afternoon. The men were unable to overcome the Tigers, falling 163-69.

Men: 163-69

The men's effort was led by individual first place finishes by senior Jared Pellerin and junior Andrew Hayes. Pellerin won the 1000 yard freestyle with the time of 10:27.97, over 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher, while Hayes took home the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.44.

Women: 136-96

The women were sparked by junior Chasity Barcomb, sophomore Casey Abribat and first-year student Katharina Weidhausser, who were each two-time victors.

Barcomb posted first-place finishes off the boards, winning both the 1 meter and the 3 meter dive with scores of 164.90 and 207.15, respectively.

Abribat posted victories in the 200 yard IM (2:16.90) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:17.16), while Weihausser won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.10 and beat out an RIT opponent in the 200 yard freestyle (2:01.22) by less than half of a second.

Abribat and Weidhausser, with the help of first-year Elizabeth Canne and senior Katy Kozminkski, also placed first in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:13.58.

Also helping to pace the Saints to victory were senior Hannah Grimes and junior Katie Spakowski, who posted first-place finishes of their own. Grimes won the 200 yard breaststroke (2:35.69) while Spakowski won the 1000 yard freestyle (11:32.95).

The Saints swimming and diving team will compete at the Liberty League Championships Dec. 4 and 5 at Union College.
