The St. Lawrence University women's squash team opened the 2010-11 season on Saturday at the Robie Squash Courts, as the Saints hosted Queens, the University of Toronto and William Smith in a round robin.
The University of Toronto defeated the Saints 9-0 in the opening match, while the Herons of William Smith won the bottom seven matches for a 7-2 victory. Finally, St. Lawrence and Queens played to a 4-4 tie in the final match of the afternoon.
After being shut out by Toronto, Frances Robinson and Molly Caplan won the No. 1 and 2 matches for the Saints against William Smith. Robinson defeated Victoria Scott 3-1 at the top spot after dropping the opening game (10-12, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8), while Caplan swept Lucia Adams Rowe 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-6). However, the Herons won each of the final seven matches to secure the win, 7-2.
