HAMILTON -- Junior netminder Kyle Hayton made 24 saves and Ben Finkelstein, Alex Gilmour and Jacob Pritchard scored to give the No. 16 St. Lawrence men's hockey team a 3-0 win over Colgate on Friday night.

The win not only moves the Saints into a tie for first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with Union, but it is also the 50th of Hayton's career.

The Saints got some key players back on the scoresheet in Pritchard and Drew Smolcynski, while senior defensemen Eric Sweetman and Mike Graham tallied a point for the third straight game.

In addition, the Saints extended their power play goal streak to eight straight games with Gilmour's tally in the third period. The last time the program went this many consecutive games with a power play goal was the 2009-10 season.

Finkelstein put St. Lawrence in front 1-0 with the game winner and his second goal in as many games with just six seconds remaining in the first period with Smolcynski picking up the lone assist. It is the first point for the Hatfield, Pa. native since Nov. 19.

The Saints outshot Colgate 16-8 in the second period, but couldn't get another puck behind Colgate goaltender Charlie Finn until the midway point of the third when Gilmour deflected a shot from the point by Sweetman with the Saints on the power play to push the lead to 2-0. Carson Gicewicz also assisted on the play.

Two minutes and 14 seconds later, Pritchard – who missed returned to the Saints lineup last Saturday after missing the first four games of the second half due to injury – scored his eighth of the season with a quick shot on a semi-breakaway to push to the 3-0 margin. It was Graham who sprung Pritchard into the Colgate zone for his third assist in as many games.

St. Lawrence finished 1-for-5 on the power play and had a 40-24 advantage in shots on goal. Finn made 37 stops in the loss for Colgate.

The Saints are now 13-6-6 overall and 9-1-3 in ECAC Hockey games, while Colgate drops to 4-13-5 and 2-6-2 against conference opponents.

St. Lawrence will play the final game of its seven-game road trip tomorrow night, as the Saints take on nationally-ranked Cornell at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y. at 7 p.m.
