CANTON, N.Y.—St. Lawrence University (2-5) shook off a solid start from the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (4-3) to capture an 89-70 victory on Tuesday night. Junior forward Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Charter) scored 15 points to lead the Bears.

Potsdam started the game quickly, opening up 10-5 lead in over the first 2:31. Onabor scored all 10 points on two threes, a dunk and a layup. The Saints battled back to tie the game at 16 all at the 13:04 mark and took their first lead 30 seconds later on a 3-pointer from Ben Crawford to make it 19-18. Sophomore center Kristoff Saunders (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) answered with a layup, but it was the Bears' last lead of the contest. St. Lawrence put together a 12-5 run over the next three minutes for a 31-25 lead. Potsdam countered with an 8-2 stretch, including another four from Onabor, to knot the score at 33-33. However, SLU closed the half on a 13-3 tear to take a 46-36 advantage into the break.

The Saints kept the Bears at bay in the second half, while they slowly increased their lead. SLU shot nearly 56-percent from behind the arc and 50-percent overall to build its advantage as high as 25 points with 5:20 to play. Potsdam ended the contest on an 11-5 run but ran out of time in the 89-70 defeat.

Sophomore guard Danny Delsol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) finished with nine points, four rebounds and two assists for the Bears, while junior guard Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) had seven points.

Riley Naclerio and Crawford each posted double-doubles for the Saints with 26 points and 14 boards and 25 points and 10 rebounds, respectively. Dom DeRegis scored 15 points and recorded four assists.

The Bears hit the road for SUNY Geneseo and the College at Brockport this weekend. Potsdam faces the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and the Golden Eagles at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
