CANTON -- Senior Ross Suitor headed a cross from first-year Aidan Callahan inside the far post in the 105th minute to give the St. Lawrence men's soccer team a 2-1 come-from-behind double overtime win over Ithaca on Sandy MacAllaster Field on Saturday afternoon.

Suitor had a hand in both St. Lawrence goals, helping the Saints find the equalizer when he forced a defensive miscue with a volley in the box in the 67th minute that resulted in an own-goal by Ithaca. The assist is the first collegiate point for Callahan, who played 70 minutes as a substitute in his debut for St. Lawrence.

Ithaca took a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute on a free kick they were awarded following a stoppage for a St. Lawrence injury. Sam Boylan sent service into the box where it was headed by Alexander Brosnihan before Eric Helper found the back of the net, beating first-year goalkeeper Jackson Schierbeek.

After taking the lead, the Bombers sat back for much of the second half content to defend against a hungry St. Lawrence attack that posted a 14-0 shot advantage in the frame. The Saints finished with a 24-3 edge in total shots and a 6-1 margin in shots on goal.

In the first overtime, Ithaca had its only scoring chance in extra time on a free kick by Boylan that sailed through traffic to the far side but hit the bottom of the post to keep the Saints alive, giving Suitor the opportunity to win it for his team in the second overtime session.

His goal in the 105th minute was the second of his career and, coincidentally, his second overtime game winner having previously helped the Saints to a 2-1 win over SUNY Geneseo in 2014.

Schierbeek earned his first collegiate win for the Saints without making a save, while Ithaca's goalkeeper Dan Hinckley made four stops for the Bombers, including one on a break by Manny Collins who led all players with nine shot attempts.

With the win, the Saints improve to 2-0 on the season after a weekend sweep. Ithaca was winless on its North Country road trip, falling to 0-2 with Saturday's loss.

St. Lawrence is on the road next weekend with a 7 p.m. game at St. John Fisher on Sept. 9 before traveling to Geneseo for a 2 p.m. match on Sept. 10.
