Skidmore College broke open Saturday's Liberty League field hockey game against St. Lawrence with two goals just 18 seconds apart in the second half and went on to a 5-1 win over the Saints at Skidmore.

The Thoroughbreds, ranked 10th nationally, improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in league play while the Saints are now 4-8 overall and 0-4 in league action.

Jenn Hanks opened the scoring for the Thoroughbreds, converting a penalty stroke 12:18 into the game, but sophomore goaltender Julia Hudson kept the Saints in the game with 11 saves in the first half and Skidmore's lead was just 1-0 at the intermission.

Melanie Webb made it a 2-0 game 3:04 into the second half, scoring in a scramble and Dani DeGregory scored her 20th of the year from Sam Revera at 48:04 and then set up Sam Skott's 17th goal of the season at 48:22 to give Skidmore a 4-0 lead.

Maggie Wraight put the Saints on the board from Sam Haab at 62:55 to make it a 4-1 game, but Skidmore answered that 52 seconds later with a goal by Seely Fancher to complete the scoring.

Skidmore outshot the Saints 31-6 overall and 24-4 in shots on goal and generated 17 penalty corners to one for the Saints. Hudson finished with 16 saves and Mikaela Thompson had two defensive saves and Carly Dziekan had one for a total of 19 saves while Amy Beck made two saves for Skidmore.

The Saints will host St. John Fisher Tuesday at 5 p.m. to begin a four-game home stand.
