Skidmore powers past Saints 8-1 in men's tennis

The No. 26 Skidmore men's tennis team handed the Saints their second straight league loss on Sunday afternoon, posting an 8-1 win in Saratoga Springs.

In addition to being nationally ranked, Skidmore is fifth in the Northeast region and boasts two ranked doubles teams as well as two ranked singles players in Oliver Loutsenko and Jimmy Sherpa.

Robert Schmitz spoiled a shutout bid for the Thoroughbreds, as he downed Gabe Steerman 6-2, 6-3 in the third position for the Saints lone victory of the day.

The Saints will return to action on March 29, as they play host to league foe Vassar at 2 p.m.
