Skidmore pitchers shut down St. Lawrence University's offense on Saturday, completing a Liberty League sweep of the Saints which vaulted the Thoroughbreds past SLU and into first place in the league.

The Saints, who have now lost six straight, were beaten 4-0 as Max Martins allowed just six hits in game one and Skidmore jumped out to an 8-0 lead in game two and won 9-3 to improve to 23-8 overall and 14-6 in league play. The Saints fell to third in the league standings and are 19-10 overall and 12-7 in league play.

Skidmore scored all of its runs in the top of the fifth as Saint pitcher Joe Riley gave up a pair of walks to lead off the inning and a single by Casey Quinn and an error scored two runs. Three straight singles pushed the lead to 4-0 with RBI hits from Leejay Pollacchi and Zack Rudman.

Ethan Braddock had two of the Saints' six hits in game one while Paul Piatelli doubled.

Skidmore's Jordan Keysor did not allow a run until following a 30 minute rain delay in the eighth of game two and the Thoroughbreds piled up an early lead. Geoff Green went four for six with three runs driven in to spark the Skidmore offense.

Piatelli was two for three and Matt D'Auteiul two for four to lead the Saints in game two. Andrew Shreyack took the loss for the Saints with Kyle Donaldson and Ben Jenkins pitching in relief.

The Saints are slated to play a non-league game against Hamilton on Wednesday at Tom Fay Field and will host RIT in a four-game league series Saturday and Sunday.
