Potsdam, NY – Shooting 59.1% over the course of the final three quarters, Skidmore proved tough to stop on the interior as the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team dropped a 69-58 decision to the Thoroughbreds Friday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights fell to 9-15 overall and 4-13 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore edged up to 15-9 and 13-4. Clarkson will close out the regular season against Rensselaer on Saturday afternoon.

After a difficult first quarter in which it shot just 4-for-12, Skidmore shot 50% from the floor in the second quarter and improved that rate to above 63% in each of the final two quarters. Clarkson's offense wasn't terrible over the final three quarters either (47.4%), but couldn't maintain the pace of the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore opened with a 7-2 run in the first four minutes, but Clarkson got things going on offense when Hannah Earl hit a 3-pointer at the 4:09 mark. A few moments later the Knights picked up the lead thanks to a 3-pointer from Raeanna Dunn. Clarkson would maintain a modest advantage for the through the middle of the second quarter, but Skidmore ended the half on a 15-5 run. The Thoroughbreds' Jessica Centore converted with 1:24 to go in the half (28-23), but Clarkson's attempts at pulling closer before the break were thwarted when Centore made a steal and found Veronica Moceri at the other end for a fastbreak layup with 14 seconds to go.

In the second half, the Knights pulled to within six when Kelly Donnelly was whistled for a technical foul in the first few minutes, but the upheaval sparked a 7-0 run for Skidmore as the Thoroughbreds extended their advantage to 13 points (39-26). For the remainder of the quarter, Clarkson and Skidmore played even, as the Knights could trim the deficit to just 10 points before settling at 14 at the conclusion of the third.

On several occasions in the fourth Clarkson found itself behind by as many as 17, but timely baskets kept things interesting. It wasn't until the final few minutes that Clarkson was able to get back within a striking distance at 11 points, but by then there was just too little time remaining.

Senior guard Madison Shea scored a game-high 19 points, shooting 8-for-11 from the field, while adding in eight rebounds. Devin Sorell was held scoreless in the first half, but still finished with 11 points, and Hannah Earl added in nine points and seven boards.

For Skidmore, Kelly Donnelly contributed in all facets of the game with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, and Veronica Moceri shot 6-for-9 from the floor, including a flawless 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc, to finish with 15 points. Lilly Berg also proved tough to guard on the interior, shooting 8-for-13 for 16 points in just 17 minutes.
