Senior Leslie Stratton belted a three-run double in the seventh inning of the second game against Skidmore College on Friday afternoon to snap a 7-7 tie and lift the Saints to their first conference win of the season. St. Lawrence downed the Thoroughbreds 11-8, after dropping game one 6-4.

Seventh run rallies were the keys to both games, as Skidmore rallied for four runs of its own in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the win. The Saints built a 4-0 lead in game one, as a pair of doubles by senior Rebecca Allen drove in three runs, while a single by Hannah Sears plated the other.

All of Skidmore's runs in the first game came via the long ball, as they chipped away at the St. Lawrence lead with a two-run shot in the fifth inning to make it 4-2 Saints, and a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-4 win.

Kyle Plimpton was the pitcher of record for the Saints, allowing nine hits while recording a whopping 15 strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.

It was St. Lawrence's turn to come from behind in game two, as the Scarlet and Brown trailed 7-3 heading into the top of the fifth inning. Aisha O'Connor, Nicole Matthews and Allen each singled and drove in a run to help the Saints inch closer at cut the Thoroughbreds lead to 7-6.

In the sixth inning, junior Brady Cooper plated Carly Dziekan with a single to right field and tied the game at 7-7.

In the top of the seventh, Leslie Stratton stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and doubled to right field to bring Jordan Sheridan, Kelly Burke and Dziekan around to score and give the Saints their first lead of game two, 10-7. Natasha Bell later reached on an error by the Skidmore second baseman, allowing Stratton to score the final run of the afternoon for the Saints.

Skidmore threatened in the bottom half of the inning and brought the score to 11-8, but Plimpton – who came in in relief of first-year pitcher Hannah Sears – shut the door. The Buffalo, N.Y. native earned her second save of the season, while Sears picked up her third win.

Four Saints recorded multi-hit games in game two, including Allen – who was 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Both Nicole Matthews and Hannah Sears finished with two RBI.
