Canton, NY – Seven different players found the back of the net as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team cruised to a 16-1 victory v. SUNY Poly on Saturday.
Allison Auger led the Roos with four goals and two assists, while MaryClare Bowes also scored four times. Molly Denny chipped in three goals and two assists, while Katelynn Nutter tallied two goals and one assist. Mia Jermano scored her first goal of the season and Alyssa Kolbe notched her first career goal.
Amanda Woods controlled play in the midfield with a game-high 10 draw controls and added five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Jermano also finished with a gam-ehigh three caused turnovers to go with three ground balls.
The Roos (4-4) built a double-digit lead in the first half against a SUNY Poly (3-3) squad playing with just 10 players and took a 12-1 lead into intermission. Nakeya Stedman got the Wildcats on the board with 13:13 remaining in the first half.
Canton outscored SUNY Poly 4-0 after intermission. Nicole Piskorowski stopped three of the four shots she faced in the win, while Megan Will made 13 stops for the Wildcats.
The one goal given up by the Roos is the fewest since they gave up one goal in a 16-1 win v. Bard College on April 22, 2015.
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts Morrisville State at 4 p.m.
