Seven top-20 finishes pace Saints women's swim/dive team on Day Two of States

The St. Lawrence women's swim and dive team posted a number of strong performances on the second day of the UNYSCSA Championship meet at Ithaca College, earning five individual top-20 finishes and placing 10th in a pair of relays.

First-year student Heather Foley was among the Saints leaders on Thursday and was the team's top finisher in the 100 fly, placing 12th with a time of 1:00.38, edging teammate Natalie Dellinger (13th, 1:00.72). Alanna Blackburn also placed in the final heats of the event, coming in 22nd with a time of 1:02.17.

Foley was also a member of the 400 medley relay team, joining Courtney Goodrich, Elizabeth Canne and Blackburn for a 10th-place finish in the medley, as the foursome combined for a time of 4:01.88. The other 10th-place finish came in the 200 free relay for the Saints from a team that consisted of Becca Raab, Nicole Leinders, Dellinger and Blackburn and posted a time of 1:41.79.

Olivia Rettstatt also earned a 12th place finish for the Saints, winning the B final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:45.91 and besting teammates Canne (14th, 4:48.70) and Gabriella Marchetti (16th, 4:51.99). Julie Deguardi swam in the C final of the event, placing 23rd in 5:00.87.

Other individual placements for on the day for the Saints went to Julia Carson and Leinders who both competed in the C final of the 200 free, finishing with times of 2:00.50 (20th) and 2:01.75 (24th), respectively.

Heading into the third day of the four day meet, the Saints currently sit in 10th with 225 points. On tap for Friday are the 200 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 800 free relay and the men's one meter dive.
