A member of the class of 2015 scored a goal in each period to lead the St. Lawrence women's hockey team to a 3-0 shutout of No. 5 Quinnipiac on Friday night at Appleton Arena. Amanda Boulier, Jessica Hon and Jacqueline Wand were the goal scorers for the Saints, while fellow senior Carmen MacDonald made 20 saves, including 11 in the third period, for her third shutout of the season.

"It is always important to have the first goal in our games versus Quinnipiac," Head Coach Chris Wells said, "especially with how well they play defense."

Quinnipiac entered the evening tied for first in the nation in scoring defense at 1.07 and had not been shutout this season. With the win the Saints improve to 18-9-4 overall and 12-4-3 against ECAC Hockey opponents and move into sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings. Meanwhile, Quinnipiac is now 22-6-2 and 13-4-2 and one point ahead of St. Lawrence in third place.

The Saints controlled the play from the opening draw and had the Bobcats on their heels in the offensive zone for over a minute before Boulier – a senior captain – put her team in front with the only goal they would need at the 1:43 mark. Classmate Ellie Williams played the puck to first-year Hannah Miller behind the net before Miller hit Boulier for a one-timer in the slot and her sixth goal of the season.

"We had a nice play to start the game and we were able to keep them hemmed in for most of the first period," Wells said. "We knew Rick [Seeley] would have them ready to go in the second and they were able to carry the play on us for some good stretches. Jess Hon scored on a nice redirect to get a two goal lead and the nice bounce we got at the beginning of the third gave us a nice cushion."

The Bobcats outshot the Saints in the middle frame 7-4, but what few shots the Saints had, they made them count.

Hon connected for her fourth of the season when she redirected a shot from the point by junior Megan Armstrong behind Quinnipiac netminder Chelsea Laden to push the Saints lead to 2-0. Boulier also assisted on the play.

After the puck dropped on the third period, Wand didn't waste any time extending the St. Lawrence lead to three goals as she scored her sixth of the season just eight seconds in.

Brooke Webster won the draw clean back to Kennedy Marchment who played the puck to Wand on the left wing as she carried into the Bobcats zone. The Cary, Ill. native took a quick wrist shot that hit a Quinnipiac skate in front before besting Laden, who was pulled for backup goaltender Sydney Rossman following the goal.

Laden finished with 12 saves in just over 40 minutes of action, while Rossman made three stops for the Bobcats in the third.

The Saints will celebrate their seven-member class of 2015 following tomorrow's game against Princeton. Puck drop between the Saints and Tigers is set for 3 p.m.
