The St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team improved to 10-1 on the season behind a 12-5 victory over Messiah on Saturday evening in Cortland, NY. The Saints were led offensively by their seniors, who combined for eight goals to help knock off the Falcons.

Senior co-captain Kyle Jacobsen led all players with three goals, while fellow classmates Peter Carpenter and Drake Paul each added two tallies. Matt Pope also added a goal for the Class of 2012 en route to the impressive win over Messiah (6-4).

"I thought we did a good job of starting quickly, which was an emphasis coming off of the Clarkson win," explained head coach Mike Mahoney. "We approached the game the right way and played solidly throughout. Getting eight goals from the seniors was nice to see and a good sign this time of year."

Juniors Mac Johnson, Dave Schoettler and Tucker Garfield and sophomore Pierson Fowler completed the scoring for the Scarlet and Brown, while Josh Kerr led the Falcons with two goals. Junior Dave Hovey added three assists for St. Lawrence while Carpenter added one helper.

The Saints took a 3-1 lead into the second quarter and continued to impress throughout the stanza. St. Lawrence built an 8-2 advantage heading into intermission, as the offense was solid and junior goalie Jeff Goeke made six saves.

With his team in control, junior goaltender Jack Nuland turned in five saves in the second half to lock down the win. Each team scored one goal in the third while the Saints won the fourth quarter 3-2 en route to the 12-5 win.

St. Lawrence will be in action again on Tuesday, April 17 when the team hosts Cazenovia at Hall-Leet Stadium beginning at 4:00pm
