Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team used a 18-6 run over a key eight minute second half stretch to defeat visiting Fisher College, 66-55, Saturday afternoon at the Roos House.

The Falcons (6-10) led 47-44 with 11:07 remaining in the contest after an Alexis Akridge bucket inside. The Roos responded with an 18-6 burst that started with an Alicia Uhlein (Watertown, NY) old-fashioned three-point play.

Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) rattled off four straight points on a pair of free throws and a lay-in off a pretty pass from Joelle Percy (Black River, NY). Janelle Bradish (Massena, NY) and Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) bookended back-to-back jumpers between a nice block by Bradish on the defensive end.

Leading by four at this point Percy hit a knockdown trey off the find from Uhlein to extend the lead to seven, and a minute later the Roos made it 62-53 as Terrance pulled down a defensive board and converted inside on the other end. SUNY Canton used crisp execution down the stretch, as the Falcons never got closer than seven en route to the 11-point win.

Joelle Percy made a key 3 and two assists during an 18-6 run for the Roos.

Fisher led by as many as six early after a trey from Christine Briggs. SUNY Canton took its first lead of the game at 11-10 after a made jumper from Hart. Fisher opened up a four-point lead but the Roos responded with four straight points from Percy and Sayer to tie it at 15 apiece. There were five ties the remainder of the first half as Fisher held a slim 30-28 lead at intermission.

Terrance was a workhorse all game inside as she produced 12 points to go with her season and game-high 18 rebounds, playing all 40 minutes. Sayer recorded a team-high 14 points, while Bradish narrowly missed another double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Uhlein chipped in 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting to go with her game-high five assists. Percy added eight points and four assists and senior Katlyn Hart (Harrisville, NY) provided the scoring punch off the bench netting all seven of her points before halftime.

The Roos (3-13) were on fire in the second half outshooting the Falcons 48 to 38 percent from the field. SUNY Canton held a large 49-33 edge on the glass that led directly to a 15-6 advantage in second chance points.

Javana Bernard paced Fisher with a game-high 18 points and Porsha Grayson tallied 15 points. Akridge finished with a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The women's basketball team returns to action at the Roos House on Friday when it hosts the College of St. Joseph (VT) at 4:00 p.m.
