Schenectady, NY – Following a strong start, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team endured an 11 minute, 20 second-stretch without a point and dropped a 57-41 decision to Union in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the Liberty League, while Union evened their season and conference records, moving to 6-6 and 2-2.

In the opening quarter, Clarkson raced out to a 9-0 lead in the first five minutes and Union was without a point until the 3:47 mark when Nicole Conley buried a 3-pointer to get the Dutchwomen on the board. Clarkson finished off the quarter with a 15-7 advantage, shooting 7-for-14 from the floor, while Union struggled to go just 3-for-16 from the field and committed seven turnovers.

The second quarter was the turning point in the contest, as Clarkson suddenly went cold. Madison Shea buried a jumper at the 6:37 mark, but that was the last time the Knights would tally a single point for a stretch of 11:20. Union took full advantage, ending the half with a 7-0 run to take a three-point cushion into the locker room. The Knights ended the half going 0-for-5 from the floor with six turnovers and no offensive rebounds.

Clarkson's struggles continued at the start of the third quarter, missing its first seven shots and committing three more turnovers, allowing Union to rush out to a double-digit lead (32-19). Kathleen Coloney finally sunk a jumper at the 5:16 mark to break the scoreless cycle, but it wasn't enough to get the Clarkson offense going. Down by just nine (34-25) with approximately three minutes to go, the Knights went scoreless and Union went off, scoring 13 points.

By the time Clarkson finally got back into a groove on offense, it was too little too late. Union enjoyed a 22-point edge with a little over seven minutes to go in the game when Clarkson finally was able to start scoring again at a normal rate. The Knights trimmed the lead below 20, settling at a 16-point differential at the conclusion of the contest.

Junior Devin Sorell finished with 15 points for Clarkson, while classmate Madison Shea finished with six points and six rebounds. For Union, Nicole Conley scored 14 points and added eight rebounds while Erin Lyons and Jenni Barra contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.
