POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam hockey players Dawna Salvarinas and Izzy Fayerman earned ECAC West recognition for their play during the week ending Nov. 20. Salvarinas was named the conference’s Goalie of the Week and Fayerman the ECAC West Rookie of the Week.
Salvarinas made 33 saves in the Bears’ 3-2 victory over Oswego on Nov. 20, to end a four-game winless streak. The sophomore goaltender has a record of 1-2 in three starts with a goals-against-average of 3.67 and save percentage of .896.
Fayerman scored the first two goals of her career to help Potsdam erase a 4-1 deficit in the third period of the Bears’ 5-5 tie with Oswego on Nov. 19. The freshman forward has played in all seven of Potsdam’s contests this season and has totaled two goals and one assist for three points.
The Bears (2-4-1, 2-4-1 ECAC West) are back in action on Dec. 3-4, when they host Elmira College. Faceoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
