St. Lawrence University's women's outdoor track and field team heads into the ECAC Championships on Thursday with the number one ranking in the Atlantic Region and one of its loftiest national rankings in the USTFCCCA national team computer rankings at 11th.

The Saints, who will compete in the ECAC Championships at RPI on Thursday and Friday, hope to enhance their rankings and gain additional national qualifiers for the upcoming NCAA Championships. SLU is fifth among eastern teams in the computer ranking, which is led by UW-Oshkosh. The Saints moved up from 19th last week to their current 11th position.

Senior Amy Cymerman will be out to continue an outstanding spring season at the ECAC meet and is already qualified in three different events for the NCAA Championships to be held at Ohio Wesleyan later this month. Cymerman has the nation's best time in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:24.30, the second best time nationally in the 10,000 meters at 34:47.43 and the ninth best time in the 5000 meters in 16:47.65. She is also in the top 30 nationally at 1500 meters with a 4:35.56 clocking and has set the Saint record in all four events this spring.

Also locked into the field at the NCAA meet is junior Divya Biswal, who has the nation's second best triple jump thus far this season at 12.19 meters and also has the 21st best long jump at 5.61 meters. The top 22 athletes in each event make the NCAA field.

Freshman Lisa Grohn is also currently in qualifying position in the 5000 at 21st with a 17:05.09 clocking and would look to move up in this week's meet.

Sophomore Marisa Turner, junior Carly Stine and senior Ariel Beccia, plus the Saint 4x400 relay, will be out to qualify at the ECACs. Turner currently is tied for 29th in the high jump at 1.65 meters while Stine is 25th in the 400 hurdles with a best of 1:03.47 and Beccia is 23rd at 10,000 meters with a 36:10.45 clocking. Beccia is likely in the field depending upon which events athletes elect to run, but could lock up a position with a big race in Troy.

The 4x400 relay team of Turner, Stine, Ketura Mason and Hannah Kinsey currently has the 22nd best time this season at 3:52.62 and needs to trim that time to make the field as one of the top 16 relays nationally.
