Saints women's track Grohn, Turner set records at Bucknell meet

Marisa Turner and Lisa Grohn set St. Lawrence records and Divya Biswal had two top six finishes as St. Lawrence University's women's track team competed in the multi-divisional Bucknell Bison Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

Grohn finished third in the 3000 meters in 10:07.51, trimming 1.27 seconds off the record previously set by Deb Danehy Lyndaker in 1997. It was the top track finish for a Saint athlete in the meet which included both Division I and Division II teams in addition to Division III entries. Kristin Traub of Marist ran 9:56.02 to win the race and Pittsburgh's Morgan Perry was second. Carrie Pomainville ran 10:50.86 and finished 11th in the race.

Biswal had the top overall finish for a Saint athlete, finishing second in the triple jump at 12.10 meters and also had a top ten in the long jump, finishing sixth with a 5.53 meter leap on Saturday. She also ran the 100 hurdles and was 18th in 15.32. Her triple jump distance is the best in the country in Division III thus far this season.

Turner set the Saint record in the high jump and was one of three athletes to clear 1.71 meters, finishing fourth on attempts. Her mark is among the top four in the country thus far this year. She also long jumped 4.93 meters, was 16th in the 400 meters with a 48.39 clocking and ran on the Saint 4x100 and 4x400 relays. She joined Biswal, Chinelo Asanya and Hannah Merriam on the 4x100 team which ran 49.95 and was second among Division III entries and Jaleigh Pier, Molly Lennon and Jacqui Ebeling on the 4x400 team which ran 4:08.12 and finished 12th.

Megan Kellogg ran a top ten time nationally in the 1500 on Saturday, finishing third among Division III runners in 4:37.96 while Ashley Leta ran 4:54.40. Ebeling and Allison Scarf joined Biswal in the 100 hurdles, Ebeling running 16.60 and Scarf 17.56 while Pier ran 1:04.74 in the 400 meters. Lennon had a time of 1:06.87 and Ebeling ran 1:08.54 in the 400 hurdles while Asanya ran 13.49 in the 100 and 27.49 in the 200..

In field event competition, Jenna Jasinski threw 34.60 meters the javelin, Meghann Wood had a tenth place finish in the shot put with a 12.56 meter throw and Jessica Tyree threw 40.73 in the hammer.

The Saints will compete in the Liberty League Championships at RPI on Saturday.
