The St. Lawrence women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 7-2 win over William Smith in Newell Field House on Sunday. Ranked No. 13 in the northeast region by the ITA, the Saints finished with a six match win streak and will now turn their attention towards preparing for the Liberty League tournament.
The Saints held a 2-1 lead over the Herons following doubles play, as the duo of Elkie Vandenbeemt and Morgan McNeal continued its success at first doubles with an 8-5 win over Hannah More and Haley Wolf. Hallie Young and Samantha Miller also combined for the Saints win, downing Charlotte Federowicz and Kelley Hartmann 8-1.
In singles play, St. Lawrence first saw wins from Vandenbeemt (6-2, 6-1) at No. 1 and Anna Young (6-1, 6-0) at No. 5, before Morgan McNeal clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Casey Nicoletti at No. 3.
Olivia Arroyo (6-3, 7-5) and Hallie Young (7-5, 6-0) were also winners on the day, at No. 2 and No. 5, respectively.
The Saints have a two-week break before they play host to Liberty League teams on Sammis Courts for the conference tournament April 26-28.
