Saints women's tennis team rebounds on the road, drop Hamilton 7-2
The St. Lawrence women's tennis team snapped a two-match skid with a 7-2 non-conference win over Hamilton on Sunday afternoon. Olivia Arroyo clinched the win for the Saints with a three-set victory at second singles.
After wins from the pairs of Elkie Vandenbeemt and Morgan McNeal (8-1) and Georgia Comber and Anna Young (8-6) at first and second doubles, respectively, the Saints carried a 2-1 lead into singles play.Vandenbeemt and Comber pushed the lead to 4-1, winning their singles matches in straight sets before Arroyo rebounded from dropping the second set to beat out Hamilton's Isabella Schoning 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 and seal the team victory for the Saints.
Anna Young and Hallie Young also picked up wins in singles play at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Hallie Young won her match with a 10-5 result in a super breaker after splitting the first two sets 6-1, 1-6.
The Saints (10-3, 1-2) will next play Nazareth in Rochester on April 5.
