Saints Women's Swimming post season-opening win over Skidmore

The St. Lawrence women's swimming and diving team opened the 2016-17 at home with a 117-76 win over Skidmore in the Frank and Lee Augsbury Swimming Pool thanks to wins in eight races (seven individual and one relay) on Friday afternoon. Heather Foley and first-year Christina Felchner both won a pair of events for the Saints.

Foley won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:23.51 and followed it up with a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.62. She was also part of the Saints winning 200 medley relay team along with Meg Musser, Gabriella Marchetti and Becca Raab. The team combined for a time of 1:56.75 to open Friday's meet.

Felchner swept the sprint freestyle races, as she picked up her first collegiate win in the 50 freestyle, leading Raab to the wall with a time of 25.55, while Raab finished in 25.63. She also won the 100 freestyle in 56.12 in front of classmate Madeline Holodnik (58.17)

Holodnik also picked up her first career win against the Thoroughbreds in the 200 freestyle (2:03.04).

Other winners for the Saints included Gabriella Marchetti in the 1000 freestyle in 11:12.17 with Taylor McClung finishing second with a time of 11:16.41. McClung won the 500 freestyle for St. Lawrence (5:41.35).

The Saints will travel to Clarkson on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. meet in Potsdam, N.Y.
