Saints women's swimmers fall to Nazareth

First-year Darla Long and senior Alanna Blackburn each won of pair of events for the St. Lawrence women's swimming and diving team on Saturday afternoon, but the Saints fell to Nazareth 160-130 in Rochester.

Long won the first two events of her collegiate career in the 100 (1:12.87) and 200 backstroke (2:33.95), while Blackburn extended her unbeaten streak in the sprint freestyles events to four straight dual meets on the season.

Blackburn posted a time of 28.78 in the 50 and 1:02.45 in the 100, leading first-years Claire Anderson (1:03.94) and Madeline Hauben (1:05.13) to the wall in the latter, as the Saints finished 1-3. Junior Becca Raab finished second in the 50 with a time of 29.26.

Hauben (2:17.10) also picked up her first collegiate win for the Saints as she edged Anderson (2:18.02) in the 200 freestyle.

The meet against Nazareth was the last dual meet of the fall semester for the Saints, who went 2-2 during the first three weeks of the season. They'll turn their attention to preparing for the Liberty League Championship meet, which will be held in Troy, N.Y. on Dec. 4 and 5.
