Saints women's squash team split matches at Hamilton

St. Lawrence University's women's squash team will take a 4-5 overall record into the final match of the regular season at Franklin and Marshall on Sunday after splitting matches with Hamilton and Mount Holyoke at Hamilton on Saturday.

In Saturday's first match, Jill Baker and Brigitte Tousignant came away with the Saint wins and several other matches were hotly contested as number 18 Hamilton beat the 20th-ranked Saints 7-2.

The Saints swept Mount Holyoke in the second match, 9-0 with all but one of the matches decided by 3-0 scores.

In the opening match of the day, Baker won her sixth of the season, beating Hamilton's Hilary Gray 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 at one while Tousignant also won her sixth of the year with a 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4 win at three over Elizabeth Morris.

Hamilton's Rachel Newman rallied to beat Emily Terry 3-2 at two as the Terry won games one and two 12-10, 15-13, but Newman came back with 11-8, 11-1 and 11-6 game wins for the match. Zoe Kagan went four games with Hamilton's Isabelle Weisman at four, losing 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6 and Losangela Batista played one of the closest matches of the year at nine, losing to Marina Hartnick of Hamilton 12-10, 13-11, 14-12 at nine.

Hamilton's Lindsay Arader beat Cristina de la Vega 3-0 at five, Rafiatou Ouro-Aguy of Hamilton beat Val Quan 3-0 at six and Grace Munschauer was a 3-0 winner over the Saints' Paige Buchanan at eight. Hamilton's Katherine Bauer beat Sarah Neilsen 3-0 in the exhibition match at ten.
