The St. Lawrence University women's rowing team competed this weekend in Ithaca and Rochester, NY, rowing against Ithaca College and Skidmore on Saturday at Cayuga Inlet and in a head-to-head showdown with RIT on the Genesee River on Sunday.

Saturday's races were on a 2,000m course with flat conditions. The Saints' varsity 8+ squared off with Ithaca College in one half of a double dual that also pitted Skidmore against Smith. St. Lawrence's time of 7:27.4 was third of the four crews, as Ithaca posted an impressive time of 7:02.0 to earn the win.

The Saints' novice 8+ picked up a second place finish in its race, narrowly finishing behind Ithaca by a mere 1.9 seconds. St. Lawrence's time of 7:36.7 gave it an open water win over Skidmore (8.05.1).

Conditions for Sunday's races in Rochester were much different than Saturday, as the crews faced a strong head current and a head wind of approximately 15 miles per hour. The Saints Novice boat was even with RIT before the Tigers caught a boat-stopping crab at 700m, allowing St. Lawrence to cruise to victory in 8:09.82.

Meanwhile, the varsity 8+ finished behind two RIT boats in its race, closing with a time of 8:11.58. The Tigers varsity boat won in 7:56.22, while its second varsity finished in 8:09.74.

St. Lawrence's varsity boat was coxed by Yuki McQueeney and was rowed by Gabby Schreffler, Ellie Jones, Abbie McIvor, Karen Blakelock, Heidi Weiss, Daniela Stokes, Hannah Durant and Jenette Kloss. The novice 8+ was comprised of coxswain Sarah Heatherton, Laura Greshin, Emma Morgan, Sarah Evarts, Annie Williams, Jen Lifsitz, Keckeley Habel, Mikayla Thomas and Kailash Heron.

Due to weather conditions in Waddington, St. Lawrence will not compete at home next weekend against Hamilton and Union, but will instead travel to Clinton, NY to row against the Continentals on Saturday, April 19.
