The St. Lawrence University women's rowing team competed in the 49th Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA on Sunday. The Saints varsity 8+ competed in the collegiate eights race, finishing in 10th place overall for the program's third top-10 finish at the Head of the Charles since 2010.
St. Lawrence finished with a time of 18:56.7, finishing just behind Williams' "A" boat by only :04 seconds. The Saints' result placed them ahead of Williams' "B" boat, Marietta, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Colby and Hamilton.
The Saints' boat (from bow) was comprised of Gabby Schreffler, Jen Longwell, Abbie McIvor, Karen Blakelock, Heidi Weiss, Daniela Stokes, Hannah Durant, Jenette Kloss and coxswain Yuki McQueeney.
The 10th place finish is the third top-10 for St. Lawrence at the Head of Charles in the last four seasons, as the Saints were 9th last fall and 7th in 2010 in collegiate eights.
Grand Valley State University won the race in 17:46.7, while Trinity, William Smith, Ithaca and Bates rounded out the top-5.
Both the St. Lawrence University men's and women's rowing teams will compete again on Saturday, October 26 at the 2013 Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga, NY.
