Cricket Wemyss shut out scoring in the second half as the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team posted a 12-1 win over Chapman University Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs, Col., to wrap up their spring break trip.

Both teams remained scoreless through the first ten minutes of play. The Panther's broke the barrier when they netted the first and only of the game with just under 20 minutes to play. The Saints responded with a free-position goal from Rachel Boghosian for her ninth of the season to tie the game 1-1. Later in the half, Tori Smith carried the ball all the way from midfield to score her first goal of the season as the Saints took a 5-1 lead. Alexandra LaMotte ripped her second goal of the game to close the half 6-1 over the Panthers.

St. Lawrence dominated scoring for the remainder of the game, outshooting Chapman 39-10 and closing out the second half on a six-goal run. The Saints also collected 33 ground balls to the Panthers 24.

"Everyone played really well today and we were able to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities," said head coach Ashley Pike. "We had a great spring break, and can't wait to get back to Canton to pick up a couple more wins."

The Saints were led by LaMotte with three goals, while Boghosian, Kiera Taussig and Kara Hurley added two goals apiece. Kayla Schmalz, Emma Jewett and Smith each netted one. Jacqueline Sovie caused three turnovers and picked up seven ground balls for St. Lawrence.

Chapman's lone goal was scored by Stacey Zuppa. Tara Sonnemaker collected 17 saves in goal for the Panthers.

The Saints moved to 3-4 on the season and the Panthers fell to 5-4 overall.

St. Lawrence will return home to face Clarkson in their first Liberty League contest of the season on April 1, 2017.
