Senior Abigail Owens scored 31 seconds into the game as the St. Lawrence University Women's Lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead as the Saints cruised to an 18-0 victory Saturday over Bard in a Liberty League game on North Country Field at Hall-Leet Stadium in Canton.

Owens scored her second goal of game as the Saints (8-6 overall, 4-2 Liberty League) jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the contest. Kiera Taussig, senior Caroline Bailey and senior Emma Garfield each scored goals in addition to the two Owens goals.

Michaela Maybee scored at the 19:07 mark and then freshman Alexandra LaMotte scored a pair of back-to-back goals to extend the lead. Senior Chloe Knapp scored twice in a row in a span of just more than a minute before Kayla Schmalz and Ashley Norris scored to round out the first half of scoring for a 12-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Julia Mitiguy opened the scoring in the first two minutes of the period and Bailey added her second of the game seven minutes later.

Freshman Emily Johnson and junior Kara Hurley scored goals over a two minute stretch before Norris added her second of the game and Rachel Boghosian scored her first goal as a Saint in the closing seconds of the game after intercepting a pass in front of the goal.

The Saints held a 28-3 shots advantage and a 17-7 ground balls edge while forcing 23 turnovers with 11 caused turnovers. Greta Massey, Schmalz and Olivia Slade had two caused turnovers each.

Olga Lukas played the first half and earned her seventh win of the season with one save while Cricket Wemyss finished the game and also made one save.

After the game, seniors Bailey, Maybee, Owens, Faith Seeley, Knapp, Hayden Stein and Garfield were honored after their final home game for the Saints.

The Saints travel to Skidmore and RPI next weekend for Liberty League games on Friday and Saturday respectively before finishing the regular season at Clarkson on April 30.
